DQ #1
Qualitative data has been described as voluminous and sometimes overwhelming to the researcher. In what ways could a researcher manage and organize the data?
It is true that extricating and coding qualitative data can be overwhelming, particularly when it is from multiple sources. Still, the task can be completed by standardizing the data and assigning themes. The first step is to review the collected data (after transcription if necessary) to identify the initial patterns and emerging themes that are then assigned categorical codes. The second step is to create a coding table that is congruent with the initial patterns and emerging themes. The third step is to group the data into categories and patterns to identify independent themes that would facilitate later discussion. phenomenological, grounded theory, and ethnographic research and voluminous Qualitative data discussion essay. The fourth step is to organize the collected qualitative data by topic, subtopic, respondent, and question to facilitate later analysis steps and clear up the emerging themes. The final step entails coding the data based on groupings with the source clearly labelled (Bernard & Ryan, 2010; Fortune, Reid & Miller, 2013). The five steps allow researchers to manage and organize qualitative data.
