Assignment Details
The project involves studying the IT infrastructure of a relevant information system (IS)/
information technology (IT) used by Samsung
Project Report Structure: Part 1
Q1: Organizational Profile.
Brief background of the business including organization details, purpose, and organizational
structure.
Samsung’s organizational structure is designed to advance technology throughout the
enterprise. The technology Inn Innovation is located in the development of smart
phones. Structural facilitation wins in the effective implementation of Samsung’s
strategy of generic skills and intensive growth strategies. The structure of the company
is also a manifestation of the development of the business from a small trading company
to a multifunctional, multifunctional enterprise, advanced technologies. Samsung uses
different process management strategies for different markets and industries. Maps of
the United Nations and United Nations organizations. Enabled in Business and Market
Development Strategies from Samsung.
Q2: Strategies.
Discuss 2 types of strategies for competitive advantages
1. Cost leadership strategy.
2. differentiation strategy.
Q3: Technology Involved.
Discuss Samsung information security
Cyber attack scenario 1: Unauthorized access from the backdoor
Outside of Samsung, developers routinely create software ‘backdoors’ for apps and even
mobile OSes so that they can gain easy access for troubleshooting purposes. However,
hackers are able to discover these backdoors, which usually bypass any or all
cybersecurity measures on the device in question.
To prevent unauthorised backdoor access, do not download unofficial or unauthorized
apps. Downloading software other than what the manufacturer originally installed to
gain full access to the device’s operating system could also introduce malware or
spyware that leads to unauthorised backdoor access.
How Samsung protects you against this threat: At Samsung, we design, create, and
validate every computer chip, every piece of wiring, and every hardware component
before using them to manufacture our smart devices in highly secure factories around
the world. This chip-up approach gives us control over design, manufacturing and
assembly, ensuring a secure supply chain that prevents unauthorised backdoor access in
our devices – resulting in an end product that our users can trust completely.
Cyberattack Scenario 2: Compromised, weak, or re-used passwords
As users continue to create new accounts for digital services, ranging from telehealth
services to new ride-hailing and e-commerce platforms, they provide more avenues for
hackers to exploit.
As an August 2021 survey from IBM[1] found, 86% of consumers in Asia Pacific admit
that they re-use the same credentials across multiple online accounts. This is a poor data
privacy habit – just one attack could leave a user’s entire internet footprint vulnerable
to hackers.
How Samsung protects you against this threat: Samsung’s devices[2] are equipped with
innovative biometric authentication technology, such as Ultrasonic Fingerprint, so that
access to your data can be protected even if your device is lost or stolen. Known as
Samsung Pass[3], this biometric authentication tool also lets users easily access log -in
credentials without the need to remember countless usernames and passwords[4]! To
take data protection to the next level, we have also equipped our devices with Knox
Vault, a secure processor that operates independently from the main CPU. Knox Vault
securely isolates your biometrics data from the rest of your phone, so no one can get
their hands on your data.
Cyberattack Scenario 3: Free Wi-Fi may not be so free after all
Free Wi-Fi hotspots are a boon for everyone who needs access to the Internet on their
mobile devices for work or play. However, public Wi-Fi services provide an opportunity
for hackers to steal data, as the data that you send across the web – such as credit card
information for online purchases – might first pass through the hands of a hacker via a
public Wi-Fi network.
This report has two parts. In part one we investigate the organizational profile,
strategies used by Samsung as well as the technology involved in its operation. Later we
talk about the data management used by the company, and we conclude the 1″ part with
identifying the stake holders. In part two we continue our investigation by analyzing
samsung existing system and evaluating it. We conclude our report by giving some
suggestions to the company to improve its future information system operations and
procedures
Q4: Data Management.
How Samsung manage and process data
Data is increasingly important and valuable nowadays and is being recognized as a
driving force for innovation and competitiveness in diverse industrial fields. As data
generation is gaining tremendous speed, the amount of data is also increasing rapidly.
However, it is not the large amount of data itself that leads to innovation, but the
technology that allows the data to be used purposefully.
As Samsung Electronics operates within a wide range of business portfolios, there is a
need to handle data from many sources: mobile apps, mobile devices, wearables,
consumer electronics, marketing, logistics, manufacturing, customer relations,
enterprise resource planning, and human resources.
Q5: Identify the Stakeholders
Who are the main individuals, groups, or departments affected by the information system?
Information-Systems Users – Types of Users
Besides the people who work to create, administer, and manage information systems, one
more significant group of people: the users of information systems. This group represents a
considerable percentage of the people involved. If the user cannot successfully learn and
use an information system, the system is doomed to failure.
One tool used to understand how users will adopt a new technology comes from a 1962
study by Everett Rogers. In his book, Diffusion of Innovation, 1 Rogers explains how new
ideas and technology spread via communication channels over time. Innovations are
initially perceived as uncertain and even risky. To overcome this uncertainty, most people
seek out others like themselves who have already adopted the new idea or technology.
Thus, the diffusion process consists of successive groups of consumers adopting new
technology( shown in blue in the graph below); the adoption rate will start slowly and then
dramatically increase once adoption reaches a certain point – its market share(yellow
curve) reaches saturation level and becomes self-sustaining.

Marking policy for assignments
General marking policy

Students should be given three attempts for submitting their assignments
(before the deadline). First attempt must provide the student with SafeAssign
match report for plagiarism level. So, the student gets the chance to revise their
assignments by using the additional attempts.
Mark will be awarded for the last submission attempt. This must be clarified to
the students.
No more attempts or marks for resubmitting the assignment should be given to
the students after the marks are shown on BB.
If the instructor requested additional requirements for the course’ assignments,
these requirements must be clearly clarified verbally to the students during a
course’s session and posted on BB.
One mark will be deducted for not including the cover page with all required
information. In case the student included the cover page with some missing
information, (0.5) mark will be deducted.
20% of the total grade will be deducted for providing a poor structure of the
assignment. For example, if the assignment is marked out of 15, the student
provided an excellent content and answer that met all the requirements of the
assignment’s question with poor writing structure. Then the student will get 15
based on the content and you will deduct up to 20% (3 marks) from the total
grade (5% for paper style, 5% spelling and grammar errors, 5% for referencing
and 5% for word count).
No email submission is accepted.
ONLY WORD file format is accepted. Other file formats (PDF, JPG…etc.), the
assignment will award ZERO mark.
Marks will be available on BB after one week of due dates.
Plagiarism marking policy:

If the SafeAssign match report equals 20% and above, the assignment must be
reviewed by the instructor.
The cover page and assignment’ questions match percentage must be
excluded from the overall match percentage of SafeAssign report.
80% and above of the answer is plagiarised, the assignment will award ZERO
mark. (including identical assignments, both students award ZERO mark)
20-79% of the answer is plagiarised, these plagiarised parts should be
highlighted, and only non-plagiarised parts must be marked.
Late submission policy

It aims to ensure that all students are treated equitably and do not gain an unfair
advantage by choosing to submit their work late.
Penalties for late submission shall be 10% of the total mark of the assignment
for each day of late submission up to six calendar days after the due date.
Assignments will not be accepted after the sixth day and the student will award
ZERO mark.
All late submissions must be made electronically through BB.
Example if the assignment is marked out of 20, deduction of 10% means a
deduction of 2 marks per day.
This policy does not cover “Extenuating Circumstances”. Examples;
circumstances outside of the control of a student.
