4. Mid-Semester Report: This is an individual and confidential written account (report) of the
design experience up to that point. It will be submitted via USAOnline using the Assignments
Tool. It is an evaluation of individual contributions to the team activity and suggestions on how
to improve the team function. It should include, at a minimum, the following components:
• a clear and complete definition of the project
• a complete assessment of the progress to date on the project, including an assessment of
schedule and any deviations/modifications)
• a description of team organization and function
your contributions to the project to date
a concise set of conclusions regarding progress to date and recommended actions needed
to insure successful completion of the project
This assignment should result in a readable progress report that is organized and flows logically
toward a concise set of conclusions. The specific goals (desired outcomes) that will be assessed
in this writing assignment are as follows:
• students should be able to write a clear and succinct definition of the project on which
they are working
students should be able to write a readable report that is organized and flows logically
students should be able to document project progress in a professionally written and
grammatically correct manner.
Three Mile Creek Greenway Connections at 1-65
The new Three Mile Creek Greenway is a pedestrian/bike trai
(linear park) being developed along three Three Mile Creek
from its mouth at the Mobile River to the USA campus. One of
the key design issues with this project is how to get across 1-65
(and potentially one or more railroad crossings). The team will
develop and evaluate several alternatives for crossing over on
under 1-65. The team will be responsible for structural
geotechnical, transportation, and stormwater aspects of the
project.
