Question 2: Write a description of the research problem you propose to investigate and explain why
you chose this topic. [2 marks]
The research problem I would like to investigate is the impact of youth empowerment
programs in Saudi Arabia. The reason for choosing the topic is to examine the continuous high youth
unemployment rate over the years regardless of the government efforts in youth empowerment
programs (Statista, 2020). The government sets a huge budget for job creation, and the youth
unemployment rate remains high. The Saudi government also has programs such as Doroob,
Tamheer, and Hafiz that aims to make job-seeking easy among youth but the youth unemployment
rate is more than twice the country’s unemployment rate (Government of Saudi Arabia, 2020). The
non-governmental organizations have also put effort into the same problem, but the result remains
the same.
Question 3: What should be considered in developing a good research idea?
[2 marks]
A major problem facing a population or organization is the item to consider when developing
a good research idea. Using the approach will help the research find valuable information from the
people or stakeholders in an organization (Gliner, Morgan & Leech, 2016). The factors that should
determine the research topic include the researcher’s interest, manageability of the topic, the
relevance of the topic, new ideas that have not been exhausted, and the cost of researching the
particular topic.

Question 4: What are the five categories of research methods? [2mark]
i) Exploratory- a method used to investigate new ideas and topics that had to be tackled by
previous researchers.
ii) Survey- is the use of the question to get specific data on a particular topic through phone
calls, questionnaires, and live interviews.
iii) Descriptive- a method used to evaluate characteristics of a particular section of the population
or group of people.
iv) Observational – is a method researchers use to observe animals and humans in their natural
status or habitat (Gliner, Morgan & Leech, 2016).
v) Experimental – is a research method that follows scientific research approach by using
different variables in a controlled environment.
